L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty’s Social Impact Department created the Skin Health Microgrant—a $2,500 funding opportunity designed to support four medical students who are passionate about promoting access to skin health for all.
Through this initiative, we aim to uplift emerging leaders and bring inclusive care to communities.
Grant Eligibility
The Skin Health Microgrant is available to medical students who meet the following criteria:
- Currently pursuing an MD or DO degree at an accredited US medical or osteopathic school
- Demonstrated interest in dermatology
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must have a mentor who will oversee the project
Project Requirements
Proposals must be 1 to 3 pages and include:
- Problem statement
- Solution (including goals and objectives)
- Budget and budget narrative (You may find a budget template here)
- Timeline
- Success and evaluation metrics
Application checklist
- Application form
- Project proposal (see requirements above)
- Proof of medical school enrollment
- Letter of recommendation from mentor, including a statement confirming a) acceptance to serve as your mentor and b) knowledge of the proposed project
- If your project requires Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, please consult your IRB and include proof of approval with your submission.

- Climate and skin health
Proposals should focus on improving skin health outcomes and access to care for communities who face systemic barriers. Awardees must submit a brief report within 30 days of project completion.
Use of Funds
The Skin Health Microgrant provides $2,500 to cover direct expenses related to a medical student's participation in a skin health project. Eligible costs may include project materials, travel, lodging, and - if applicable- a student stipend. Please submit a detailed budget along with a narrative explaining how the funds will be used with your proposal.
